Hello everyone, and welcome back to our VISTA Spotlight Series! Each month we spotlight one of our AmeriCorps VISTA Members and the amazing work they do. This month we have the unique opportunity to highlight and showcase the work of our VISTA Leader, Madeline. The role of the VISTA Leader is vital to the success of the VISTA program as it supports the growth and advancement of members and the program holistically.
Madeline comes to us after having previously served with AmeriCorps NCCC in the Southern Region where she lead teams through 10 months of direct service across the southern and eastern United States.
North Carolina Campus Engagement works with 12 unique sites on 8 different campuses throughout North Carolina supporting VISTA programming. As a VISTA Leader, Madeline plays a pivotal role in guiding and supporting a dynamic cohort of young professionals throughout their service journey. Her primary focus is on fostering their growth by providing tailored professional development opportunities that align with their career aspirations and future plans. Madeline regularly checks in with VISTAs on their progress and offers constructive feedback to help them navigate their projects and overcome any challenges they may face. By continually assessing and enhancing the overall cohort experience, she ensures that each individual receives the resources and encouragement needed to thrive in their roles and achieve their full potential.
In addition to guiding and developing the cohort, Madeline’s role as a Visa Leader extends to supporting the NCCE VISTA program more broadly by spearheading recruitment efforts and fostering strong alumni connections. She actively participates in recruiting new members, helping to identify and attract candidates who are passionate about serving the community and making a meaningful impact. Once individuals join the program, she ensures they are integrated smoothly and have access to the resources they need. Madeline’s commitment also includes maintaining and strengthening relationships with alumni, engaging them in ongoing activities, and leveraging their experiences to enhance the program’s effectiveness and reach. By bridging the gap between current participants and alumni, she helps to build a robust network that supports the long-term success of both the individuals and the program.
Madeline will be continuing her service with NC Campus Engagement for another year to further develop NCCE VISTA programming for service members and alumni. She looks forward to the opportunity to really make a difference in the service experience for service cohort members in the years to come!
