This month we’re spotlighting one of our VISTAs who recently completed her service year: Erin Guy. Erin was our 2022/2023 NC Hunger Corps VISTA who served at the University of North Carolina Asheville (UNCA).

On January 13 & 14, NCCE trained the 1st cohort of NC Student Dialogue Ambassadors. The Ambassadors and mentors engaged in a day and a half of immersive training in dialogue and civil discourse.

On November 18, NCCE hosted the 2022 “Engagement Matters” Student Awards Ceremony featuring the CISA, Barnhill, and Marshall Scholarship recipients.

This month’s spotlight is on Laura Manigrasso. Laura is one of our NC Hunger Corps VISTAs serving at Alamance Community College (ACC). With a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Syracuse University and a wealth of experience teaching/leading others, she has been a wonderful addition to our VISTA cohort.

For the 4th year, NCCE and Food Lion Feeds are partnering on the NC Collegiate Hunger Challenge and competition to raise awareness about and address student food insecurity.

On September 9, reps from 26 colleges & universities convened to explore mobilizing students for the fall midterms. It was an engaging and inspiring day of learning & sharing.

On July 1, the 8th cohort of NCCE Engaged Faculty Scholars began their term of service. Allison Walker of High Point University and Susana Cisneros of UNC Charlotte, are the 2022-23 Scholars.

On June 29, 2022, North Carolina Campus Engagement launched. Over 70 individuals attended two launch parties at High Point University and NC State University. It was a day of celebration and reflection as we honored the past and stepped into a bold new future.

Today’s spotlight is on Demetrice Sheard, the NC Hunger Corps AmeriCorps VISTA serving at East Carolina University in their Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement. In this role, he serves in ECU’s Purple Pantry, and works closely with two of the Center’s partners.
